Cook’s Lobster Pound and the Bailey Island working waterfront.

Cribstone Lobster

Located on the working waterfront of Bailey Island, Cribstone Lobster is a true Maine lobster pound. Operating from Cook’s Wharf, we support the local fleet and our community by providing wharf services and direct access to the catch—whether you are buying live at our dock or receiving a fresh overnight shipment at your door.

About Cribstone Lobster

Working towards a sustainable future for Maine's Blue Economy

Cribstone Lobster is rooted at Cook’s Lobster Pound on Bailey Island, Maine — a working waterfront where local boats land their catch, lobster is sorted and held, fuel keeps boats moving, and the day’s business still happens on the wharf. Our online store is one way to share that catch beyond the dock, but the larger purpose is to keep this place active: supporting local harvesters, serving wholesale and retail customers, and preserving a piece of Maine’s working waterfront for the future.

Cook with Confidence

Every live lobster order includes simple instructions for storing, cooking, cracking, and serving your lobster. We’ll walk you through what to do when the box arrives, how to keep the lobsters cold before cooking, how long to steam or boil them, and the easiest way to get the meat from the shell.

  1. Keep them cold. Store live lobsters in the refrigerator, covered with damp newspaper or seaweed. Do not store them in fresh water.
  2. Boil or steam. Use heavily salted water and a large pot with room for steam to circulate.
  3. Eat simply. Crack claws, knuckles, and tail. Serve with melted butter, lemon, and plenty of napkins.
